I need some details setting up elastix using E1 trunk.
Can someone share some info...
Thank you.

It would be helpful if you share some more info..... :silly:

You need to give a little info, even what you have looked at, so we can steer you in the right direction....

But in a simple answer (but not the only answer)

Obtain a Digium TE122 E1/T1 Card
Install in Elastix System, Close Lid
Autodetect the card via Elastix Gui

That's almost it....

Regards

Bob

Thanks Bob...
I will keep you guys posted. Need to test it out first.
I already have one box running but it is using sip devices, sip trunks.
Expect tons of questions! :lol:

ah...that information alone (SIP PBX running) is very useful :)

So you already have a system running, then your task is almost as simple as what I said.

1) Get your carrier to install the E1 Termination (if they haven't already)
2) Obtain and install the Digium TE122 Card (or its PCI Express equiv depending on hardware) (make sure you set the jumper to E1 (comes as T1 by default)
3) Connect the E1 Ports together (30% chance you may need a E1 Xover cable depending on Carrier - but you could build one of these if necessary or buy one for safety)
4) Autodetect via the Elastix Hardware Detection GUI
5) It will now be available as the Dahdi/G0 Trunk
6) Set your outbound routes to use the new Trunk
7) test incoming calls - may have some further config depending on carrier, but can only test first.

Honestly, that is about it....

Further questions, please ask, but just don't be light on the detail...

Regards

Bob

share the country you're at and your card model and server.
hardware detection may set you up, but there may be some settings which have to be done in the config files.

my config:

/etc/dahdi/system.conf (this file is created by dahdi_cfg)
# Span 6: TE2/0/2 "T2XXP (PCI) Card 0 Span 2"
span=6,6,0,ccs,hdb3
# termtype: te
bchan=121-135,137-151
dchan=136
#echocanceller=oslec,121-135,137-151

I disabled oslec. Was slowing down my machine thus causing delay (echo).

/etc/asterisk/dahdi-channels.conf
context=from-pstn
signalling=pri_cpe
switchtype=euroisdn
group=9 ;Group for incomming/outgoing E1 lines
channel=>121-135,137-151

Use g9 or G9 in ZAP or Dahdi trunk. (g9 or G9 differ in which channel is first used)

I could give more feedback, but you'll have to tell us what you use.

Achilles is correct, but when you get the card installed and detected, come back to the forum to get correct details for your country.

Don't use the configs above as they probably won't suit your implementation.

Achilles, I assume that you have several cards in your system, or 4 port E1 cards

With a single card, roi will only have probably a single span, so the config will not suit and you will only have a Dahdi/g0.

Anyhow, plenty of people can help you when you get to that stage..

Need help on EuroType ISDN Line (PRI)

I'm based in Bangalore, India and have Airtel here as my provider. I've setup the Elastix 2.0.3 and have the outbound and inbound working. I've only used the automated install and not changed / configured anything except "Hardware Detection" via GUI and setting up the PBX - also via GUI.

When making calls using a softphone (3CX) to an external number via PSTN I'm facing a very poor quality of sound (with background nosie) and the called party is getting a very strong Echo. Have tried this with multiple softphones and calling different parties (landline & mobile) and this problem still persists. Would sincerely appreciate assistance in this matter. Details required to help me troubleshoot this are as below:

1) The System itself if an AMD Quad Core processor system, with 8GB RAM
2) The card I'm using is Digium Wildcard TE121 w/o the hardware echo canceller module (as I was recommended against it)

results of the cat /procs/interrupts are as follows:

Hi,
The contents of these two files should have the configs for your T1/E1 card. The chan_dahdi.conf you posted does not have anything E1 related. Also /etc/dahdi/system.conf is important. Post all of those here. Somebody will help.

#include dahdi-channels.conf
#include chan_dahdi_additional.conf

Best of luck

Thanks Bob, everybody thank you so much for the info, I'm still waiting for my E1 provider. Can you advise me, Is it safe or logical to buy Elastix box on ebay (E1 ready)? Or should I build my own box? I think my boss is planing to get one on ebay.

By the way I'm from Philippines.

Buy your hardware from a reputable and as local as possible distributor or reseller. What if you need support? What if the card/server you get is defective? Will your Ebay seller warranty it? If the system is worth that much to you, it's not worth the savings going with something so uncertain as an Ebay purchase.

good point...Thank you...

How can I get the correct details for my country, I'm from Philippines.
Thank you.
