We are using hosted 3CX in a physicians office and have used both ATT and Verizon email to SMS feature to send out urgent text messages to providers. Email notifications are too easy to miss. It appears that Verizon email to SMS feature [sending an email to [email protected]] has been phased out and no longer works.

Can anyone provide any solutions to send an email message from 3CX to SMS to use for VM notification for this situation?

Thanks

My CFD app will do this, https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/voice-to-text-message-app.129703/

We had the same issue. We do pay a subscription to clicksend.com to send the sms using their API. This won't leave a VM that can be retrieved, but can send the audio recording to an email address.
In the Audio folder are 2 files phone.txt and email.txt.
Just put the cell number(s) in the phone.txt, starting with country code and separated by comma, ie +15555555555,+15555555556
You can put emails in the email file the same.
These files will have to be copied to your servers callflow folder, each CFD will create it's own folder/subfolders.

Thanks for reply.

I am using a hosted 3CX solution so not sure if this would work in my situation. I am currently have accounts through both Flowroute which I use mainly and Telnyx. These urgent VM messages are also going out through email via the normal 3CX user method but the text is there because it is better at alerting the user regarding the urgent nature of the message.

Is there a method that I can send these text messages out via Flowroute or Telnyx or yet another way that would solve this?

Thanks again!

You'd have to wait until update 4 to get CFDs in V20, but V18, if your still on, it has them.
So I don't know if you have access to the folders on the hosted account, if so then the CFD would work.
Flowroute and Telnyx do have API access for sending SMS messages.
This is the only method that I have been able to do this. Our customer's customers call a number and leave a message, this is transcribed and sent as a SMS, and as an email, with recording attached, if they want.

You cannot use CFD applications with 3CX hosted (yet). You really do not have any options for sending native SMS. By the way, we have also found that the email-to-SMS gateways from Verizon and ATT are no longer dependable. While they usually work ... eventually... a 3-4 hour delay is unacceptable for emergency notifications.

We are adding native SMS support to our 3CX On Call Manager and 3CX Emergency Notifier now for this exact reason.

If you need a solution today, you will need to move from 3CX hosted to another provider that permits custom solutions. We regularly send native SMS in several of our commercial tools, but that requires you to move your 3CX server.
