Kia ora guys,
Had a bit of a search around but can't find anything too relevant.

The question is, I'm wondering if there is any facility to have a template of some description that is used when users are auto-created by the Microsoft user sync.

Have a situation with a client where we want to use the user sync so they have an up to date directory of users in AD being imported to 3CX. But the majority of these users won't use any of the 3CX apps. So when the user is auto-created, I'd like "Ring mobile simultaneously" enabled as a default so that their office staff can just search and ring these users as soon as they are created. The main idea being we don't want the admin overhead of having to enable this manually every time a new user is created as their staff come and go regularly.

Any ideas?

Edit: The other, much simpler thing, would be if we can import AD users directly in to 3CX contacts and keep them in sync. I don't think that's possible though without building something like a custom CRM integration.

I'm afraid that isn't possible right now. The closest thing to a "Template" for extensions is to have created a normal extension the way you want it, then use the "Copy Extension" button to duplicate it.
This though can't be used somehow in the context you want it, which as I understand admins will only be adding users in AD and then expecting them to be 100% ready in 3CX.

Fully automated way, no, but this would be slightly easier to do. I imagine AD has some way of exporting users in a CSV format.
Every few days or at some interval, export users, reformat the CV, then import it via the 3CX Management Console into the Public Contacts.

Thanks for the reply Nick. Perhaps an 'extension template' thing for the AD integration could be dropped in a brainstorming session? I feel it would be something plenty of people would take advantage of if available.

But your comment on the uploading CSV got me thinking. So I just wrote a little script that hits the management console api endpoints for login and contact uploads, and can now do this programmatically. So just need to look at the Microsoft side of it (thinking I could pull the AD users as an LDAP source, and then just build a CSV off that). Obviously I realise the UI API could change with updates, but was pretty simple to script so don't mind just testing this with future updates.

Smart thinking! ;)
