Hello,

at our office we use physical phones that are configured with 3cx.

Now, we would like to offer the opportunity to our dispatch to work from home and use an external softphone (one that our online dispatch system requires).
We have no idea how to set this up and our 3cx provider is not answering us (or atleast answers when it suits him).

Can somebody guide us please.

here are the informations that the external softphone requires:
-user
-domain
-port
-proxy
-auth-id
-password

This is much like registering an unsupported phone. I assume user / password is the extension / web password. Domain is the FQDN / IP of the 3CX server. Proxy usually can be ignored. Auth-Id is typically the extension number?

Unlike the 3CX soft phone, this audio data will not be encrypted, so I recommend you connect to your 3CX server via a VPN connection.

What is the externam softphone you are using? can you use 3cx APP itself to dialer?
otherwise you have to add as manual phone in users setting for a extention you can do.

You can set up an external softphone with 3CX using the extension’s SIP credentials. First, log into the 3CX Management Console, go to Extensions, and pick the user. Look under Authentication for the User, Domain (your 3CX server), Port (usually 5060 or 5061), Proxy (same as Domain), Auth ID, and Password. Enter these into the softphone and select SIP UDP/TCP/TLS as needed. If it doesn’t connect, check firewall settings or see if STUN/SBC is required.

Also, restart the softphone after applying the settings above for the changes to take effect.
