We've had this reported by a customer using Fanvil X210 phones at reception, I have set up a Fanvil X5U for my own testing on our 3CX system and can confirm the same behaviour.

After some time one or many BLF keys (configured as BLF to specific extensions) will stop lighting up altogether to show status. The keys still work in that I can press the key to dial the extension, but the light on the key goes off entirely whereas it should be green if available & red if busy. The lights should only be off altogether if the extension isn't currently registered/online which I have confirmed is not the case when this occurs.

If I reboot the phone the BLF keys all start working again for a while, but one or many may start dropping off again randomly.

I found the following thread from 2019 with the exact same issue, though this was supposedly fixed with a firmware/template update. Is it possible this fix has since been reverted somehow? https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/fanvil-x4-blf-issues.63610/

Hello dean.french.au,

  • The Fanvil X210 have the latest 3CX supported firmware? https://www.3cx.com/support/phone-firmwares/
  • 3CX Phone System version and build?
  • Did you provision via Local LAN / 3CX SBC / Direct STUN?
  • Try to factory reset the phone completely then provision and monitor.

Hi Naveen.

Yes, the X210's have the latest supported firmware, as does the X5U I am testing which I have seen the issue occur with today. All are firmware 2.2.13.
Both ours and the customers 3CX PBX are on the latest stable build, 16.0.7.1078.
All devices are provisioned via local LAN connection.
We have already factory reset devices in our troubleshooting which has made no difference.

Note that we are seeing this across different PBXs (ours and our customers, hosted separately) and different Fanvil models (X210, X5U, X6U), this issue is not related to one particular handset.

Hello dean.french.au,

Thanks for the details.
I would suggest opening a support ticket from your partner portal login for this issue. 3CX technical team will troubleshoot the issue and advise you.

Hello,

This is a known issue and has been reported to the manufacturer.

It is currently under investigation and we expect it to be resolved with the next firmware update very soon.

The X4 case is not related.

Thank you very much John, that's great news!

I only have a few Fanvil X210 for receptionists (all others Yealink) and have just downgraded the X210's again to 2.2.11 as a precausion as there were minor complaints about strange BLF issues. The fanvil handsets now of course get "unsupported" warning in console. Is it recommended I keep on 2.2.11 and wait for fixed FW or re-upgrade and persist with bug (which rebooting handset seems to temporarily resolve). I guess it may depend on what "very soon" is. What workaround are others doing regarding this issue?

Hi there,

No, we recommend not upgrading to 2.2.13, please wait for a new version to be released.
We have removed this version from our online repository, but it seems your PBX managed to "get" the newer firmware version before we removed it.

Once you see a newer version than 2.2.13, then upgrade.

Is there any link to the old firmware version? My Fanvil X6U's upgraded and now have random BLF lines not working. Happened right after the firmware upgrade.
