I have a single location that needs a phone and cannot seem to configure the V64 as a router phone (direct) using Wifi. Using the Ethernet MAC address it will initially configure and then drop the Wifi connection. When using the Wifi MAC address, the phone will not provision at all. The phone works fine under Wifi as a normal phone using a second phone as a router phone.

Likely a limitation of wifi and the delay this would cause to devices trying to talk through it.

I have seen this on Yealink, where we were able to provision as a router phone only while wired, and then connect to Wi-Fi.

When configured as a router phone, provisioning seems to disable Wifi. Can't even configure it after the fact through the web interface.

I see that. Seems like you should be able to do it on a single phone. Wish the documentation would clarify this.

Hmm, so either Yealink is different or it's a change in v20. Hopefully one that doesn't disconnect existing phones. Clients have a few only-itself phones in places without wiring.

Oh it's definitely unsupported, for lots of good reasons, but that's different than "we're going to prevent you from using wireless going forward" if in fact that's the case.

Aside: It would also be a nice feature to mark a router phone as "usable by other phones" or not, so that a phone is by itself portable and doesn't show in the list when setting up non-router phones.
