Hello. I'm new to 3CX and running:

3CX Pro V20 (Build 1620)
Cloud Hosted by 3CX
Fanvil X3U FW 2.4.12 (by 3CX)

The PBX is working great so far, but I'm having a problem with two Fanvil X3U phones on my system. It's only a problem with the X3U phones (I have other Fanvil models and some Yealinks that work just fine).

The two X3U phones behave exactly the same way. They provision and work with 3CX, but they are slow and laggy - to the point they are unusable. When lifting the handset, it takes 10 seconds or more for the tone to start. Pressing menu buttons takes 20 seconds or more for the screen to respond and change menus. When X3Us are a part of the ring group, they don't ring until 10 seconds or more into the ring. It also takes the X3Us upwards of 5 minutes to boot after power (PoE) on. When I open the web UI for each phone, the UI is also super slow and laggy. It makes me think it related to the X3Us ethernet port.

I've reflashed the 3CX provided firmware (2.4.12) and factory reset the phones, but the problem still exists. I've tried different network switches, still same issue. Sometimes the X3Us get so bad they just don't respond at all, completely freeze, and 3CX shows them as offline.

Any ideas? Thank you.

Hi there.
Can you please advise if you have registered via SBC or if it's a manual configuration?
You could also look at the post here and try to remove the logging level "stdout" from the phone in case it is used as advised by a Fanvil support team member. Perhaps you could also reach them at [email protected]

Hi Oleg,

Thank you very much for the quick response. I registered the X3Us via SBC router phone (Yealink T46U). That other post about the X4U-V2 does sound very similar to my situation. Ironically I have some X4U-V2s running on the same PBX, and they work great! I'll give the "stdout" change a try. Cheers.

Based on the other post about the X4U-V2 lag, I decided to disable syslog all together, and the X3U phones started working. They've only been online for a few hours, but they are working great so far. It seem like syslog may have been making them lag. My other Fanvil models had syslog disabled by default.

Glad that it worked for you and it's working now.
Your feedback is appreciated too and can be useful to others who search for the same issues resolution.

I spoke too soon. The X3Us are back to being laggy and freezing. All the same issues I outlined above. The phones were online for about 19 hours before it started again. I wonder if the X3U needs a specific V20 firmware update? I saw the blog post 3/4/2024 where they released V20 firmware for the X3U-Pro. Similar phone. Maybe the regular X3U needs an update too?

Since I just started with 3CX, I've only ever used V20. I wonder how reliable the X3U was on V18? I would assume pretty solid, since I didn't come across much in the forums regarding X3U and problems.

I started a ticket with Fanvil last week. I haven't heard anything back yet.

Thanks.

As you have mentioned we did have a new firmware for the PRO model not for the one you use.
