I have an executive extension using a Fanvil 5XU, the user needs different caller IDs for the outgoing calls, depending on the reason for the call (he owns different companies, each with a different phone number)
We have multiple phone numbers per trunk, and multiple trunks as well.
Some of those numbers are routed directly to his extension so that he can pick up the calls directly.
The 5XU has multiple BLF which can be configured to pick an available line.

Can we make each of those BLF (configured as Line key) to pick a different outgoing number or at least a different trunk so that the intended caller ID is displayed on the other side?

Thanks

Hi,

No, I'm afraid we do not offer such an option via BLFs.

You can create outbound rules with a prefix so you can exit via the trunk (and Caller ID) you wish to use.

The user will have to dial the prefix+destination number each time they want to call out via a specific caller ID.

Wow,, poor user, must manually dial prefixes before every number.
It is a shame he has an advanced cloud PBX including O365 and Team integrations, with a fancy desk phone, and a modern PC and IOS app, etc, but he must keep a piece of paper right next to all of it to remind him of which prefix matches which line. And another piece of paper in his pocket for when he is at the golf course and need to make a phone call with his "state of the art" softphone.
Is there any better way to do all this? he will tell me his old phone system from the 90s already had a "line" button that he could use to pick the outgoing number.
:-(

You could also:

1. Create multiple extensions (one for each "line" as it were)
2. Have each extension use a different outbound Caller ID
3. Switch to a different extension using your mobile app (only 3 taps needed)

This way you can simulate having line keys somewhat, and should achieve what you want.

As for the deskphone, you can figure out a custom way to use your buttons as line keys and press each one before you make a call - BUT be aware that you are on your own regarding this - 3CX does not provide any support at all for having multiple accounts per deskphone.

I get the first part (wondering how that will work for incoming calls, call logs etc).
I wish I would understand the second part (I would love to try, even if not support for it)
Thanks for helping out.

For incoming calls, you could potentially send the calls of all his DIDs to a Ring Group

Say the user has 3 DIDs, you forward them all to say Ring Group 800

Ring Group 800 contains all 3 of the user's extensions (so for inbound it doesn't matter which one was left active on their app)

And also each extension will have a different outbound ID (so they can choose whichever one they want when making outbound)

Hope this helps!

Had the same request with one client. Actually 3CX does not provide a useful solution. sure you can use prefixes. Not very elegant.

Sure you can use different extensions which you can easily switch. If you put all extensions of the user to a signal group and add an inbound rule to each of the extension to the signal group it may work.
But this won't work with the Fanvil. For Fanvil you will end up in doing it the customized (non-3cx-supported) way or ... use prefixes ;)

Would you mind to you elaborate a bit?, I have a testing phone here with me and Id like to try that, and the implications. Thanks 1

sry, I actually don't run the customized version. Would need to test it as well. Maybe trying it later. Will let you know once I figured it out. I guess I have a fanvil X4G around here I could use it to test.

Just all be aware that having more than 1 ext on a deskphone can cause weird issues. Specially with CSTA.

Well, I tested it shortly with a Fanvil X4G connected with two lines to two different 3cx phone systems. You need to set up the second line using the phones website.

You can't use two lines on Fanvil connected to the same 3cx phone system due to the fact that you can't use the mac adress of the phone twice on same phone system.

I didn't investigate further here. maybe someone else could give a hint here how to find a workaround for the (usually very useful) limitation here.
