  • Is the 3CX Server Hosted and where? Onsite
  • IP Phone Make/Model/Firmware Fanvil X7 2.2.1.3 and 2.4.7
  • Provisioning Method: Local
  • Trunk Provider or Gateway Make/Model Gradwell
  • Has the Firewall Checker passed: YES
  • Are custom Phone Templates being used: NO
This is more of a warning than an expected fix, I upgraded the firmware on one of my Fanvil X7 handsets from 2.2.1.3 to 2.4.7 and now video will not be displayed from the video intercoms (i16V or i32V 2.8.0.6949). It just displays a message saying "loading...". On the X7 Phone Settings => Media Settings => Media Settings there is now the addition of H.265 Payload Type. I have reported this to Fanvil, hoping they won't say this is a 3CX issue.

Update

If the video intercom calls the phone the video is displayed and works as before.

If the phone calls the video intercom and you press the video button the message saying "loading..." appears.

Changing Phone Settings => Features => Default Dial Mode to Video fixes the issue. Personally I don't like this option.

or

I have them setup as side keys speed dials and changing the media to Video also works. The trouble with this option will 3CX keep changing it back to Default/Audio.

So it appears to struggle turning an audio call into a video call but there are two work arounds above.

The good news is that the video intercoms will far more frequently call the phones than the other way round.

I have the same issue with the X7. With the older firmware, the call would ring as normal and the video would start when it was picked up. Now when an intercom call comes through I get a black window that says loading.

This is the second firmware update in a row that's causing issues. This is disappointing considering that I chose Fanvil because they are 3CX "Preferred IP Phones". "These companies work hand in hand with us to ensure a fast response to firmware related matters and test immediately against our latest releases. They are stable and the easiest to support."

Hi everyone,

I tested the X7 going back to 2.2.11, and it does not really make a difference because this is a actually a template option set by 3CX rather than the firmware.

This provisioning behavior has not changed at least since 2 years ago, so the fact that it was working for you would imply that you perhaps made some change along the way to make it work that way? (ie. Default Dial Mode = Video)

To make the change you probably did either of the below if I had to guess:

a. built a custom template and replace the Default Dial Mode

b. removed the provisioning link and changed the option in the phone menu so it stays that way

Hello John,

We started with 2.2.11, no custom templates (3CX hosted), no changes directly in the phone menu.

We have about sixteen phones running 2.2.11 and two running 2.4.7. The behavior from a video intercom call has definitely changed.

Thanks

To our knowledge this has not changed in the last firmware, it could be something related to the codec your doorphone is using, and perhaps the new firmware cannot decode it.

Not sure what doorphone you are using, but I just tested it now with a Fanvil i30 calling the X7 and the video does show normally. See below using the latest firmware:
