Since the Fanvil X7 is on the officially supported and even preferred IP Phones list for 3CX, I find it really surprising that there is no opus support in the provisioning of the Fanvil X7 since both 3CX and X7 support the opus codec.

I'm suspecting this to be an issue because some of the other Fanvil Phones supported in this template not supporting opus (like with the Yealink T48S), but so far I'm not seeing which model that would be. A quick google search leads me to believe that at least all of these models support opus:
  • X1
  • X3S
  • X4
  • X6
  • X7
  • X210
  • X1S
  • X3U
  • X4U
  • X5U
I did not go through the whole template list fully exhaustively, but this should indicate that most should support opus.

Since opus is a listed feature of both the Fanvil X7 and 3CX, and the Fanvil X7 is preferred/fully endorsed by 3CX, why is there no opus support?

Hi @fssol

The codec declarations are done per template, but there are some models in there that don't actually support Opus.

So for the time being the template can not include it.

Which model does not support opus? So far all of the models in this template do support opus, as I've stated in the initial post.

The X3S does support opus according to the user manual (page 96):
https://www.fanvil.com/Uploads/Temp/download/20210107/5ff6a9cf0d058.pdf

I do see the X1 does not support opus. It seems like such a big shame that the template only supports the lowest common denominator for all the Fanvil X phones leaving the X7 users in the dark with any decently recent feature (of the last 10 years) like opus codec support.

Are there any plans to split up the templates like with the Yealink T48S? We're talking literally kb's on gb's of distro/software so I can't imagine it's because of the filesize...

Hi @fssol

Unfortunately no, there are no plans currently for this.
The manufacturers provide us with both the firmware and the templates, so if they decide to revamp it in the future we would be happy to include it in a later update.

As for the X3S, I think that was a typo in their manual. I found one now and it is the same..

That's quite a sad state of affairs. I'll open a ticket with the supplier in that case.
