Hi,

Our 3CX Server (V7.0.3775.0) seems to Register and Unregister it's Fax Service every 2 seconds. This fills our log up with useless information!

Code:
10:54:39.696 [CM504008]: Fax Service: registered as sip:[email protected]:5060 with contact sip:[email protected]:5100;user=phone

10:54:10.790 [CM504010]: Fax Service: unregistered contact sip:888:5100;user=phone

How can this be stopped ? I don't mind it registering every hour or so, but every 2 seconds is overkill!

Note I have changed the IP to 127.0.0.1 for the benefit of this forum post, and our actual logs show the real IP.

Thanks

Andrew

Hi

First - and the only possible answer right now: to stop it, in the Run or command prompt type services.msc and in the opened window search for 3CX PhoneSystem Fax Server, right-click, and on opened dialog, from Startup Type choose Manual. Click Apply. In this way, you prevent it to automatically start next time when your Windows starts. Then, you may stop/restart it either from here, either from PBX's Management Console.

Then, about such many registration requests: at least me, I never see this behavior until now  The log fragment you provide is quite useless, since it just prove what you said, and our technical support will ask you for sure for real fax trace logs, at least. But, until then, please give us some more details, to try to figure out which might be the reason of fax behavior, because I suppose this does not happen at the first install of the PBX: it's after a backup/restore operation? ports changed? software installed? Which OS? I mean, anything you know on your configuration changes that might be related with this (sudden) behavior.

Vali,

Thank you for your reply.

To answer a few of your questions

1) This is not sudden behaviour, our server has been doing this since we installed it.

2) O/S is Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition

3) No Restore carried out, Backup was carried out recently to troubleshoot a separate issue.

I can open a support ticket regarding this if necessary, just wondered if it was a known issue with a simple fix, but it appears not...

Thanks
Andrew

Fax registration is done programatically once at 5 mins, not 5 time per second :| and I'm mainly confused because this behavior happens at a fresh installation. The only advice I can provide you right now - sorry  - is just I said before: if you're not interested right now in fax services, then stop it for now. The worst side-effect is not that it fills the log file, but the SIP registrations requests, with all this implies: CPU+network+PBX consuming.

Hope we will figure out soon what's happen :|
