HI Guys.

I've just recently got a ht801 and have plugged in an 90's phone. I've got pulse dialing to work, but can't seem to get the ringer working, but i can still answer calls. Any ideas, the phone has been tested on a normal BT line and ringer works.

Thanks
Timbo

I'd suspect it is how the ringer is wired. The ATA will only use Tip and Ring, so the ringer is expected to be bridged (through a capacitor) across those. In the UK, many, (all?) sets have one of the ringer leads leave the set on a third wire. (we used to do that in North America years ago, when party-lines were common)

Look at "The Wiring"
http://www.wppltd.demon.co.uk/WPP/Wiring/UK_telephone/uk_telephone.html

You may want to try connecting the ATA to a UK telephone socket, then plug the set into that, to bring out the third lead to the set.

A modification can done inside the set, and the set could be fitted with an RJ11 cordset for use with the ATA only (no more BT). Do a search for a wiring diagram for the particular set, if you want to attempt this.
