H264 with other SIP client possible?

Guys, i have just setup a 3CX system, and now i read H264 is not supported for video on the clients? seems its supported for webrtc?

what if we use another client like Linphone, will it then work?

Is there a specific reason you need H264? Our clients already support VP8 so you can already video call between the various 3CX clients and the webclient.

yeah, i am using an Hikvision intercom , it only supports H264 as codec

Understood. Ok in that case, then only the 3CX Webclient will be able to potentially have a video call with that device.

In addition, some deskphones may potentially be able to have a video call with that device too (endpoint to endpoint).

And I say potentially, because H264 is not a single codec, it includes a subset of resolutions and bitrates so it is not guaranteed that it will work with WebRTC. It should work if there is a common "flavor" of the codec between the two ends, so you will have to test it and see how it goes. The same applies to 3rd party softphones. The PBX will carry the traffic but its ultimately up to the endpoint to be able to decode the stream.

btw, are you also able to remove instances? i have 2 instances active? one on the 3cx cloud, and one on my private cloud
when i moved to google cloud, i didnt send a mail first to remove it from 3cx cloud, so DNS is mixin up, i cant access the google version anymore
