Have been through setup of Grandstream gxw4104 FXO cannot get caller ID to work. Was originally having issues with incoming calls but this is fixed by changing the "Number of Rings Before Pickup" in the grandstream to 2 but this stops the caller ID coming through as it has not been processed by the grandstream by that time.
These are the links I have been following

To first better understand the situation:

• Was there ever a point when you could see the Caller ID with this setup?
• You say you had issues with incoming calls. Were they not working at all until you changed the "Number of Rings..." option?
• I do not know if the option you mention would affect the Caller ID coming through, but have you tested by reverting that setting back to what it was and then got the Caller ID?

Since the Gateway being utilized is a 3CX Supported device, it has been tested with 3CX and should work just find if provisioned as described in our guides. I'd recommend making sure it is running the correct firmware mentioned in the guide, factory reset it and then reprovision it without making additional changes that are beyond what is mentioned in our documentation and therefore not in the 3CX Default template. If it still doesn't work, it might be worth first investigating further to hopefully identify the exact cause instead of adjusting the settings on the gateway.

We could see the caller ID when set "Number of Rings Before Pickup" to 4 but you would onl;y get around 50% of calls out of the Grandstream. We have reset to factory and reprovisioned, with same result. Firmware is up to date with lastest release. From what i have read if "Number of Rings Before Pickup" parameter anything higher than 2, the gateway will not send a SIP INVITE to the 3cx causing the CID issue

What is the default value of the "Number of Rings..." setting after you have reset and reprovisioned the device? The issue you are facing may be due to "incompatibilities" between the Gateway and the PSTN Provider you are using.

4 it is set at default. It seems granstream has a version of firmware above their published that may fix the problem. I will contact them tomorrow.

Something else that's worth trying if possible is to disconnect the Gateway temporarily and plug in an analogue phone directly into the line. Make a few test calls to see whether you get a Caller ID every time. This way, you'll at least be able eliminate the possibility of the Caller ID not being delivered correctly to the Gateway and thus know if you need to also talk with the PSTN Provider or check the on-prem cabling.

Australia should be using the same Bellcore standard as North America, which means the caller ID information should be sent between the first and second ring. The idea being that the first ring will wake the caller ID device to save battery life.

It is possible that due to the provider you are using, if not the incumbent, or an issue with their equipment, this is not happening as it should.

As suggested, test the lines with an analogue telephone and caller ID device. If that seems to work, then it may still be a setting on the gateway itself.

Using a Linksys SPA3102, I find that I have always had to use 3 seconds, to consistently collect the caller ID
