Hi,
I have a question, is it possible via Automatic Answerer to ask the user to input the extension number desired and have the PBX route the call to said extension?

PS someone can explain to me what a Caller ID is and how it works??? XD Thanks!!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caller_ID

Inbound Caller ID is a paid service with some trunking providers so you must always check with your provider whether you have it enabled.

For Outbound Caller ID in 3CX this can be configured on the Extension >> Outbound Caller ID or on the Trunk itself. Some development partners (such as VoIP Tools) have created a Caller ID modulator for 3CX where you can change outbound caller ID on the fly https://www.voiptools.com/product/3cx-caller-id-new/ however this is an additional bolt on App at cost.

Yes.

3CX has what they refer to as a "Digital Receptionist" (DR) which can answer inbound call and then, based upon user input, route the call to a desired destination to include extensions.

You merely create the DR by -
1. Creating a voice prompt which is what the caller will hear upon reaching the DR so that the caller can be advised as to what the options (buttons) are - extension, ring group, queue, another DR, etc.)
2. Creating the DR extension which is where the inbound call will be directed. You will then set-up the button menu to match what was said in the voice prompt so that if you indicated that pressing 1 will send the call to Mr. Smith, that button one will represent Mr. Smith's extension in the PBX
3. Creating the inbound route so that the calls coming in using the associated DID will find their way to the DR.

It is very simply and takes just a few minutes to setup.
