Solved Hot Desk Location?

Hi there-

We have a prospect that is a medical practice that will need to use the hot desking feature. However, one of their requirements is something that I'm not sure how we can accommodate. They want the receptionist to be able to look at the Web Client panel to see which extension is signed into what room (or physical location).

Ex: Extension 101 is signed into the xray room
Ex: Extension 102 is signed into the lab

Etc.

Does anyone have any ideas on how this can be accomplished with 3CX and hot desking? For what it's worth, each room or location has a computer in it along with 1 phone.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You could use the Hot Desking extension number to do this. Hot Desking extension numbers are assigned to physical devices and are permanent (e.g HD00001). That said, if you keep a record of the Hot desking extensions and the rooms they are used in, you could then check those extensions against the ones the users use to log in and therefore know in which room those particular users are in. This however would mean that the receptionist would need access to the Management Console, due to the fact that this information is available in the Management Console >> Advanced >> Hot Desking section as seen below:


Note: As you can see, the Hot desking extension number is on the left and the currently logged in extension is shown on the right.
