How to get best audio quality in Videoconferences

Hello,

it sometimes needed to transfer as good audio stream as possible ...

Is there any option to tweak eg. Audio Codec?
Which Audio Codec will be used if we are in a Conference Room? OPUS?

Is it possible to configure the quality of the conferences via /app/settings/codecs?

Please confirm!

Hi,
yes the used audio codec is opus that is the best option currently available in terms of quality versus bandwidth usage and latency.
Currently the quality profile can be changed using the quality slider inside Options>>Settings column panel.
The options avaliable are: 16/24/32 Kbps, then I am not sure that the max is enough for your case.
The slider will increase also the video quality, then pay attention to your network condition.
Looking inside Options>>Stats you will see some graphs of bandwidth usage when you chnage the slider.

The max for opus is 256Kbps that is not selectable in the cloud platform.
It will be available in the next onpremise version of the platform.

In order to see if opus is a good option for you, you should try to encode your audio source using something like ffmpeg (playing with diffenet profile configurations) and see if the result is good.
Is your source stereo or mono?

Keep also in mind that in videoconference, the latency is the most critical factor, then the quality must be reduced as much as possible in order to keep the audio in real time. And for what I know it is not currently possible to play instruments remotely, due to the excessive latency.

We use the onpremise Version: 18.0.7 (B. 312)

Only organizer (host) and moderators (co-host) have the slider available.
You need to use the organizer link or be promoted as moderator by another moderator.
It is not a personal option, it affects the quality for all participants
