How to Limit Users from Seeing Other Users in Web / Team View

We created a batch of users.

Some of them at the top of the organizational level are listed as "Hide from Contacts."

When I log into the normal web client as a regular user with no special roles, that user can see the status AND the extension number of the users who are marked as "Hide from Contacts."

If I go to the Department settings, I can uncheck the box to "Publish department information to all extensions," and this will hide the leadership. But, it hides EVERYONE in the Department.

What we want to accomplish is to effectively hide all the users marked as "Hide from Contacts" while still publishing Department information in general for the rest of the team members.

How is this accomplished in 3CX?

I suppose that at worst, we would create a secondary group (Leaders1, Leaders2) and put the whole team in Leaders2 so they can see each other's Presence and then only put the assistants to the leaders in Leaders1 and publish that Department to the rest of the system. Surely there's a better way to do this?

I am having this same issue. If i unhide them so they can be seen in the team view, they start showing up in other departments. e.g. adding a new BLF on a phone in a different department. This is only for new users since the last release. My original users on this system work as expected. when hide user is selected they still appear in team view, but can't be seen in other departments

Hello, still looking for a solution here; please see my previous reply (March 17) for details.

@NicholasP_3CX @MichaelB_3CX Any thoughts? Can we get the visibility/hide setting separated so a user's appearance in Team and Contacts is not tied together? In Users > Options, separate checkboxes for Hide from Contacts and Hide from Team would take care of it. Thank you for any insights. Something for U6?

There are many posts about this; here's another recent related item: @PV_Support https://www.3cx.com/community/threa...ryone-sees-the-contact-card-or-no-one.132790/

Hi,

I would also like to bump this as we are experiencing the same issue for one of our Clients in 3CX Version 20 U5.
Our Client provides a Managed/Serviced Office with each Tenant having their own Department in 3CX PBX.
This shows as very un-professional as Tenants can see all other Tenants Extensions in Contacts under IOS App.

What is interesting, is that the Webclient does not have this issue, only the IOS App.

Use multi-company mode?

Use multi-company mode?
As in Multi-Tenant?
Can this be enabled on an existing PBX?
This wasn't an issue in v18 :(

Also unsure of the ramifications in MT mode as the Serviced/Managed Office act as a Virtual Receptionist for their Tenants, so will need to transfer calls to the other Departments.

As above, it seems you may have the wrong configuration, you would need multi for this, otherwise they should all be in their own setup.

Not necessarily. They may have the right configuration, but without the necessary Hide from Team and Hide from Contacts options in the current release of v20. There are implementations where an organization needs to separate the visibility of users/extensions, but still requires cross-department calling throughout the system. Multi-Tenant mode blocks calling between departments. I have detailed the issue, and a simple solution, here:

@AkitaSystems thanks for replying; your Managed/Serviced Office may be yet another example where Multi-Tenant mode, as currently designed, is not the answer to this ongoing problem.

@NicholasP_3CX @MichaelB_3CX Separate options for Hide from Contacts and Hide from Team would be ideal. Switching an existing multi department PBX to multi-tenant mode would be a nightmare since, as I understand it, I'd need to delete and recreate all the departments, users and system extensions and that, in turn, would mean reprovisioning all devices. Or is there an easier way?
