Hi,

I'm looking for a guide here but am unable to find one on how to configure a Windows 7 Pro box to function as a 3CX server. We got a plan through NexVortex and have things mainly set up there, but I'm not quite sure what needs to be done on the computer itself (and/or the router) in order for the system to work. Furthermore, the setup guide provided by NexVortex is for v11, not v12 and there are some differences.

Can anyone provide info on what steps need to be taken to prep our computer/router/network to function with 3CX?

In a nutshell...

Configure your router...see http://www.3cx.com/blog/voip-howto/router-firewall-features-requirements/

Install 3CX on the PC. (set PC to have a fixed IP)

Run firewall checker in 3CX. it will tell you if you still have any port forwarding/firewall issues.

Add your VoIP provider.

Add an extension. Create inbound rule from VoIP provider to this extension

Create an outbound rule(s).

Try placing some calls. Refer to 3CX logs for any error messages, in troubleshooting, if calls don't go through as expected.

If you do some searching, there are a lot of support articles on this site.
