As a Titanium partner you are obviously aware that you can make this suggestion in the "Ideas" forum and others can vote on your suggestion. However, sometimes urgency drives the inquiry. I will point out that it would be completely feasible to expand on the capabilities of the current dial-by-name directory using a Call Flow Designer (CFD) application. Certainly, it would not be an insignificant effort, but there is a lot of room for enhancement. I've been kicking this idea around for years. For example:
* Allow callers to select a location (multi-site PBX)
* Provide voice recognition capabilities
* Have a combined directory (multiple PBXes within the same company)
* Provide a companion lobby / website kiosk
* Ability to accept the proposed contact before transferring
* Option to exit the directory and return to the previous IVR
All the above is absolutely possible with the existing 3CX APIs and the CFD. The question has always been whether the economics of building such a solution will work. I would love to do the project if we can find the funding.
