I need to make some changes to the outgoing section in the XML of a trunk in v20. Exporting it and editing it is fine, but when imported all the changes are removed and reset to defaults. How do I make these changes stick?
Thanks

When you say reset to default, what do you mean by that?
The interface of V20 does not offer you all the other options that were there in V18, so it's limited and you won't be able to see all the settings of your template.
Why not use a supported trunk as we have so many supported in the UK

If I edit the xml to be what I need it to be (which is only 3 changes), when I import it those changes are reset as if they hadn't been made. Not helpful.
This trunk works fine in v18 so I need it to work in v20 without having to spend the hours so far trying to get outbound calls to work≥

Unfortunately, there is nothing much we could advise on the unsupported trunks and settings there.

But you can explain why the import is removing my edits, surely

if you change something in the template and before you import it, you must remove the old one that you have.

I am removing any SIP trunk from the list in Voice and chat, then via the "Import provider" button I am importing my XML. It still strips any changes. Am I doing this wrong?

Please ensure that you are importing the template with the modifications that were made and saved.

We have tested this internally, making a slight modification to the inbound parameters settings, such as which value to use with the SIP fields, and there is no issue.

Out of interest, which settings are you changing? Are you making changes to values that are allowed to be modified, such as the inbound parameter values?

Hello Team
Thanks for reporting.
Can you please send me the import file via PM and let me know what changes you are expecting after the import.
When you say "the import is removing edits" do you mean the edits you put in the xml file?
If yes, then the edits are probably breaking the xml structure.

TEST: Get the export file and after you export it from 3CX, open it in a browser (Chrome Edge etc).
It should open and you should see the content.
If you scroll down the content, you will see that there are no errors.

now make your edits to the xml file.

BEFORE you import, open it again in the browser and see if the file is healthy.
If the file has an error, you will see that the browser will show a parsing error.

Correct the file until you fix the error. Import the file to 3CX only when the browser reports no issues.

PS - 3CX does have a check yes - but errors in XML can be many so best is to use a browser so it can tell you the line where the problem occurs.

Thanks for reporting and let us know if you still face issues.

The files pre and post editing show fine in Chrome without any errors in content. If I import via the Import provider button all my edits are removed and it seems to replace with default values.I have shared the XML privately

All solved. Contact me if you'd like the xml

@orange2 Thank you for the feedback provided.
Feel free to post your feedback here and what was your issue at the end.

There was a 1 letter typo in the XML which was brilliantly spotted by nikolascx - the trunk can now make outgoing calls. \\\\i do feel there should be some sort of error alert if an import is rejected. As of now it is entirely silent.

We are glad that you have managed and resolved this issue by finding the errors in your template.
Enjoy your weekend.
