Hello all,
We have V16.0.8.9 is installed and working fine in AWS EC2 self hosted. Now we need to upgrade it to the latest version 18 to comply with FQDN endpoint activation. Please guide us on the following.
1. Taking backup from present V16 (A. License key information, FQDN & Conference B. Custom templates, Logos, Firmware and Faxes C. Voice mails D. Recordings) and shutdown system.
Question: selecting all 4 options. dose it pose any problem later?
2. Create new EC2 instance in AWS and assigning same elastic IP(Public IP) as present in present V16
3. Install Chrome browser in the system
4.Open ports (network security group) TCP 5001,5090,5060,5061,80,443 UDP 5090,5060, 9000-10999 Source (IP or group) Anywhere 0.0.0.0/0
Question: Do we need to do anything else in network security group of AWS to allow activate.3cx.com. Outbound TCP:443?
5. Download latest 3cx installation file from the site and install it
Requirements—next, recommendations—next, I accept—next, installation folder—next, install, visual c++ -- accept—install –close
A. Select 1 in config tool prompt (Select chrome)
B. Select “ Restore an existing backup configuration” in installation type ports.PNG
C. Click on upload button and select the backup file we copied from V16
D. Select the public IP shown click on next
E. Select static IP click on next
F. Accept default ports click on next
G. Accept the default adaptor selected accept the local IP click on next
H. Click on link and login to console
I. IN CONSOLE CLICK ON FIREWALL AND CLICK ON RUN
Questions: We have app for windows(mostly) present in systems. Do they need to be re provision?
Question: Are there any suggestions or document to complete this task?
We appreciate all the help. Thank you in advance

Hi @NaveenReddy,

No, and in this case you may not need to do any of the other steps mentioned at all unless the inline update method fails. Take a backup because it's a good idea always before attempting any changes. Choose all 4 and give it some time if you have a lot of voicemails / recordings.

Have you tried to upgrade using the upgrade section in the Management Console?

Hi, Thank you for the response. The updates page is not showing V18 and we do not want to disturb the current one because in case of any problem, while installing the V18 in the new one, we can revert back to the working one.

Understood @NaveenReddy, ah - I assume now that you're using Windows?

Everything you've mentioned above looks good, you seem comfortable with the steps. Take the backup, power down the v16 machine, do the installation of the v18 machine and you should be good to go.

If you're using the exact same FQDN and external IP, your users shouldn't need to reprovision.

Hi @NaveenReddy,

By default all outbound traffic is allowed, if you've edited this, then yes you'll need to allow outbound traffic to all IPs, port 443.
