I have a client that feels that it is to much work to have to pickup the phone for internal office communication. Currently in v18 we had a janky work around where internal calls auto-forwarded after one ring to (dial code)(ext)using ”foward to number” under user> ext>forwarding rules. and they were happy with that...
They are currently on v18 on-prem server
Using yealink t46g phones
As we tried v20 it changed “forward to number” to “external number”, and I am guessing with the new call handling it does push out to whatever external call routing is set up.
Solutions I have offered:
Dial code + blf (to much work)
Setup a custom speed dial with dial code and ext, put it next to blf for status (two buttons per person is going to be to many buttons to scroll through)
Attended transfer (refused to give it a true shot, and only works when transfering)
It sticks in my head that auto-answer can be setup by a custom template, but as a general rule of thumb, I try to avoid those. Does anyone have any other suggestions for setting up an auto-answer for internal calls?
