Internet / SIP Failover ?

Hi can anyone point me in the direction of information on the best way for SIP Trunk Failover if your primary leased line goes down.

We have Gamma sip trunk and have just ordered their active standby product so that if our main leased line goes down we will have a backup trunk that goes out on an alternate connection. I have setup all my local firewall rules to re route the 3cx pbx out via the new external ip and ive set the External IP config to Dynamic in 3CX Network settings.

However if i try to setup the standby trunk things stop working when i try to add the DIDs presumably as they already exist on the primary trunk.

So you have 2 Gamma SIP trunks, 1 active and 1 passive and 2 internet connections again 1 active and 1 passive correct?

I am not sure how Gammas active/standby product works but if they require the public IP in the VIA header you will to manually adjust that in the standby trunk.
Also do the 2 Gamma trunks have a different registrar IP?

You shouldn't have an issue with outbound calls but for inbound calls to work correctly you will probably need to create a custom template to adjust call source identification.

That is the plan yes - we have a main leased line with a dedicated ip for the 3cx server and a backup fttp line also with its own dedicated ip for the 3cx server.

In the case of the main leased line going down the outbound routing will automatically switch outbound traffic from the leased line dedicated external ip to the fttp dedicated external ip.
both ips route to the server for inbound traffic.

I have switched The 3CX server to be a dynamic IP based on stun lookup so it will deal with updating our FQDN.

so all i really wanted was a sip provider that would allow us to re register with the sip connection from the backup ip address if the main leased line was down.

However Gamma insist that the only way they do failover is via these ACTIVE/STANBY dual sip connections - both of which have a different ip our end AND their end.

I set the standby trunk up with some dummy information to familiarize myself with the setup our end but as soon as i put a DID on both lines that number becomes unusable on the main trunk.

How on earth do you configure DIDs to exist identically on 2 separate trunks (i need them as we have lots of direct dial numbers that are routed to extensions and Call Flows etc)
