IP address changes

I am a brand spanking and admiring new user, about two weeks.
In that time the IP address of the system, by which I mean the domain address to which my softphones are directed for a connection, has changed twice.
Re configuration of the phones is necessary each time and is a bloody nuisance.
I cannot imagine this is usual.
I would appreciate some help.

you are probably going to need to purchase a Static Public IP address from your ISP so this will not happen again.
