Is it possible for 3CX to configure two extensions to a single desk phone like a Yealink T46?

It would be nice to have a main number applied to a given phone then have one more extension connected to a Yealink T46 button. But I want 3CX to configure it. I don't want to do it manually. Can it be done?

Just to clarify, if you're asking whether it's possible to have one phone (Yealink T46) configured with multiple extensions automatically through 3CX, I am afraid that it's not possible. as each phone is tied to a single extension on the PBX.

But If you’re looking to monitor or pick up another extension, we can set up a BLF key on the phone that lets you see its status and pick up calls.

That could work. Would the BLF key, would it only blink or could you hear the extension ring? And if it can ring, can it be distinctive?

The BLF key will only blink to show the status of the other extension, but it won’t make any sound or ring on your phone when that extension receives a call.

If you'd like to pick up the call when it rings, you can press the BLF key while it’s blinking.

This is a common request for hotels and other places where the back of house may need to monitor the front desk phones. No supported way to do this, but you can 100% manually configure the phone for 2 extensions or write custom templates to add a second extension.

There is no way with in 3CX to do this but yes you can provision another account on the phone manually and assign a key to it and it will ring. Not sure about distinctive ringing for it though.

Hi,

You can always create a Ring Group or similar system extension and add the primary one to that, therefore getting a phone to ring on two extension numbers.
