Legacy feature support

Hi,

We've recently replaced a legacy Samsung PBX with a 3CX setup and are just at the point of finishing the setup.

On the old Samsung digital system when an external call came in that required the office to page the warehouse, the recipient in the warehouse had the ability to dial ## from any phone to speak to the office before deciding if they wanted to take the call or not. What would people recommend to match this option?

And ## would have called who, the original person that took the call, the receptionist? If the receptionist is the one that took the original call and then parked it, I suppose that they could dial the reception number to get some information about the caller. If they are using an ATA you may even be able to program it to call the reception extension if ## were dialled, depending on the make/model.

The ## would call the extension that just put out the page - their is no direct receptionist as such.

Any ideas other than just telling them to dial the persons extension number and printing cards to be placed next to each phone?

I don't believe that there is a feature to keep track of who placed a page and then call them back.

Most users that do make a page probably don't expect to have to deal with the reason for the page again, unless, it is to pick-up with an unanswered call placed on park/hold.

Interesting option. What if there were two pages? How would the old system know which is which?

The short answer is the person paging has to say their callback extension. The customer may not like that.

I have done very little with parking calls but that could be an option.

Hi,

In this scenario due to the size of the company it is unlikely for more than one page to be active at any one time. The environment is noisy and calls are often missed due to users not hearing the ring from phones.

The system could keep track of the extension that made that last page, and any caller on the system dialling ## would ring through to that extension. Of course that would fall apart if a second page were made in the meantime. So, this could be made to work on a very small system but would be impractical for larger systems, although multiple paging zones could be set up. Each could still only handle one page in progress at a time.
