Hello Everyone
First of all thanks for stopping and checking this out. i have a client which is not happy to dial a prefix to send out different caller id and wants me to create a button on the phone so that he/she can just push that button and dials the number and it sends a different caller id. i m not sure if this cane be done with 3cx but i know with other systems i just register another account with corresponding caller id so that if the user pushes the button for SIP LINE1 for example than it will send out different caller id and if the user pushes SIP LINE2 and picks a different account than the phone will send out different Caller id .After searching around i have found that someone mentioned about using the windows app with multiple accounts but i haven't tried it yet but i m afriad that my customer would turn back and say that he/she doesn't like it because they have to CLICK multiple times before they can make a call :( The whole idea is that they are switching from old traditional phone system and they had analogue trunks with it and they just want the similar way so they just want to simply push a relative button and make a call. Thanks in advance guys :)

If you had a set, with multiple extension line keys, you could create outbound rules specific to each extension, causing a different caller ID to be sent when calling from each. However...getting the set to have multiple line keys requires you either manually configure the set, or, modify the provisioning template. This will render the set "unsupported".

If you later had issues with the set, and required 3CX support, you would have to change the set back to the default template.

If you can live with that, then it is probably do-able, depending on the set(s) used.

Since as @leejor correctly said using more than one extension on the IP Phone will render the specific set unsupported by 3CX, I'd recommend sticking with the Prefix-Outbound Rule method which is designed for exactly this. If you think about it, it could too be one button press as it would be with a line key.

Picking this up I have a scenario where one user needs to switch outbound CallerID as she performs both HR and Accounts functions.
I have 2 distinct outbound rules set up with prefix but @ChrisC_3CX can you expand on your comments. How can you combine a button to set a prefix with an entry in the Company Phonebook which doesn’t carry the prefix?

Use a custom speed dial should work.

I think you misunderstand what I’m after.
The Company Phonebook is fully populated with numbers in the format 0123456789 (UK)
The user want to call these numbers either as HR or as Accounts.
Yes you could programme a Custom Speed dial for a specific 90123456789 but that’s not what is required.
It’s how to force a prefix on a given number in the Company Phonebook to present as Accounts

That's not possible in 3CX stock configuration. You can do it via Custom Templates / Manual Provisioning.

I thought as much but thanks anyway
