Linking Excel to 3CX database

Does anyone have any experience of linking Excel to the 3CX database ?

We are on version 9.

I believe the database is postgresql and that a ODBC driver set up in the ODBC Data source administrator should allow an external data connection from within Excel but I could just be naive. Can it be that simply ?

Any help would be apreciated.

Why do you need the direct connection to database?

I would like to produce specific reports not covered by the 3CX Log reporter and beleive that if I can access the data directly I will not be limited in any way as to the reports that can be produced.
