Linux security updates with manual 3cx update.

I did the v16 update to 18 so it did the initial Debian 9 to 10 upgrade.

Is it safe to run unattended-upgrades for security updates if I don't want 3cx to auto update?

Or is the only choice to allow 3cx to automatically update?

When it comes to OS management and Maintenance we recommend only enabling "3CX automatic updates" as it will not only apply 3CX updates(Service pack updates) but also apply Debian security updates(3CX Major updates are excluded, such as v16 to v18).

By directly accessing the OS to perform these kind of updates we cannot guarantee normal functionality for future 3CX Updates/Versions so please do so at your own discretion.

What Chris said. There were some threads a year or two ago on this. If you manually install an update in 3CX it doesn't install security updates, and they recommend not installing them yourself in case something breaks. A workaround is to enable automatic updates only when you want to install an update, and disable them afterwards.

3CX of course has choices for Daily or Weekly checks. I've seen platforms that have an option to either accelerate or delay installs so the admin can decide if a server should be on the bleeding edge/beta/prerelease or be extra cautious and delay a month or so, in case problems crop up. But in this case if Weekly is too fast then you'll have to disable/enable the check yourself.
