Looking for SFTP Hosting In Canada

WIth the move from Google to SFTP, I am trying to find a 3rd party SFTP hosting company, with a server in Canada to work with to store our backup and archive information. We were trying to work with File.com, which has a fanatasitc service, but 3CX is unable to work with it (3CX tech support stated they are an unsupported service currently).

Any ideas or suggestions?

That is the fallback. We were hoping to find an actual thir party SFTP service like Files.com who does SFTP hosting as a business to take on that role; similar to how Google took on the role beforehand.

I'm on the same point with our customers, moving from both Google and FTP to SFTP, I'm just thinking to build a server on a Windows VM.

If 3CX said files.com is unsupported, maybe they can tell what is supported then

Reminds me of an old song that went "to dream the impossible dream..."

It's frustrating because Files.com specializes in this area and they have offered to work with 3CX to resolve all the issues but 3CX has stated that they "will not work with third parties" to resolve problems.

I'm new here, but this seem counterproductive to me...

As we don't have support for Cisco ATA devices, no support for Jabra headsets etc.. That's probably commercial reasons then you've to choose to use unsupported device and assume no support if an issue is faced or to just use their supported stuff which I hope they'll provide to you.

Well there is now support for Jabra headsets on the Webclient (thankfully).

I chose the best available service I could find. They only told me it was unsupported after they found they couldn't get it to work themselves...

AND, when asked, they would profer no names of a supported service...

That's an implementation to help us to make it work (and that's really needed) but if you've a problem support won't help you.

So there is nothing supported about that.. ? Let's move to your own SFTP server !

As Frederick indicated, that is the fall-back position. We're really trying to avoid self-manageing the backup storage service. But I expect that is where we'e going to end up.

If you seek to store further your data with Google, v16 U5 will add Google Storage, an offering from their cloud platform. https://cloud.google.com/storage/docs/
Very simple to set up and the price per stored GB is minimal (or next to nothing). Later versions of 3CX will add native Amazon S3 locations.

Hi @StefanW I have had a look at the so called simple to setup cloud storage and cannot make head or tails of it or the pricing. Will there be a guide that gets compiled that will help us not familier to google storage to set it up ? Also when are we anticipating the release of SP5 ?

No there will no dedicated backup destination via an OVH api.

Sure we will document it what the user needs to do. If you are familiar with GCP then it is a 3 click setup and a file to upload to 3CX. This comes without all the Google Drive limitations. Pricing is simple. https://cloud.google.com/storage/pricing
In some regions up to 5Gb it is for free. As backups are clustered as "Archive Storage" you are looking into 0.004$ per GB plus a nominal amount for the traffic ingress.

Thank you for the info. However this puts us in the position of setting up the SFTP server and managing it; something we want to avoid.

@StefanW is there no way for Files.com to work with 3CX to resolve this issue. IMHO if it exists with Files.com, the underlying problem may exist elsewhere. It would seem to me to be in both company's interests to work together and resolve this. Thye have offered multiple times.
