In most other VOIP systems I have set up, you can add a "generic" phone with SIP server and authentication details.

Is there not a way to do that in 3cx? The only thing I can find through searching online is an article from 2009 that isn't even accurate anymore (UI has changed since it was made obviously and apparently never updated).

I just want to provision a Talkswitch 9133i for just basic phone calls, I don't even need to program any of the buttons.

It's so easy to do in other VOIP systems why is it so hard for me to find out where to do this for 3cx?

Create an extension. https://www.3cx.com/docs/manual/pbx-extension-management/ A lot of options can be ignored as you won't need them. Dummy extensions (those with no physical set) are used all the time for forwarding to other destinations. Use the password that is given when manually provisioning the phone. User will be the extension number.

3CX has moved toward automating/simplifying the set provisioning process, which means moving away from "unsupported" devices. If you feel comfortable in manually provisioning them, then great. Unfortunately, many people get in over their heads, resulting in service tickets, when things don't "work out".

I would as Leejor states strongly recommend the use of a fully supported phone, it will make your deployment time a lot shorter.

With that being said you can manually configure a SIP device to the System to an extension by filling in the IP or FQDN username and password of the system/extension in the phones interface - the endpoint must support the SIP protocol however and not have any proprietary restrictions.

Yes I understand but I have 40+ phones that are SIP compatible that I have manually configured for other systems before but 3CX makes it difficult to find these settings.

I would assume under General Settings > Authentication, that the ID and Password are the Username/Password and not the extension number or the FQDN?

And sip server should be the IP of my host?

Yes, Password is password, server will be the IP (or FQDN). On other devices, I''ve found that the extension number may have to go in more places than just the Username
