Mass Update Single Extension Field

Is it possible to update a single field (Caller ID) under every ext without affecting anything else. The area code is missing from most of our Caller ID fields and this needs to be added. Each caller ID is unique with few exceptions.

Wondering what the best way is to update that without manually doing 300+ ext.

You could export the extensions, edit them in excel, delete the extensions and re-import them as csv.

That would however mess with your did's, any assignments from digital receptionists, ring groups or queues that the extensions were attached to.

The DIDs you could export before deleting the extensions, delete after deleting the extensions and re-import after importing the extensions but the other items would have to be manually corrected.

So depending on where you are with your deployment and if it was a live system you could be looking at a lot of work.

I don't think there is any "easy" way to do this. The extension's Caller ID is a property that is exposed in the API, so technically you could build an application to do it, but that would probably be nearly as much work as just editing the extensions one at a time.
