MCU server option

Hi everyone,

I remember I used to able to select MCU server for web meeting before. Somehow it's gone after upgraded.
May I ask everyone here is this an upgrade or am i did something wrong?

For 3CX team, auto detect nearest server is good, but in some country, that it not the best case.
Like in Hong Kong, our nearest MCU server is Taiwan. However, Hong Kong best fibre cables are connected to Singapore. (you know, some political reason)).
Therefore, I really need to manually change the MCU server to Singapore in order to get the best web meeting quality.

Hi Jeremy,

This is correct, you cannot select a specific MCU as it is done automatically based on various metrics.

Please note that in the previous version you did have a choice, but it was not absolute and it was still done automatically in the background. It was more along the lines of "prefer to use XYZ MCU if possible"

Thank you for your speedy reply. Totally understood and accept 3CX decision.

But in the future, please consider our situation. Hong Kong nearest server doesn't mean the most stable server. For the past 10 years, I selected Singapore Amazon region, instead of Taiwan and Japan, because of stability and politically. Also, any minor earthquake from Taiwan/Japan will have a big impact to us.

Understood. The region will mainly depend on a number of factors but again, even if you chose manually there is no guarantee you will end up there.

For example, the one you choose may be too busy on the cpu or reached its bandwidth limits, or offline for maintenance, or have a very bad ping from your location or face other undefined issues and you will be redirected to another one as a result. This also works the other way round, say Singapore was down for any reason, you would be taken to the next best one quality-wise

Since these factors are dynamic and the system tries to remain balanced for all 3CX customers, there is always the possibility that it may change or move you to the next one that we think would be able to best serve you, to maximize the chances the meeting will be successful.
