What does the new Cloud option in Meeting Location mean?

my question would be, why you already run a v16 U6?

The answer to the question is that it is in preparation for on-prem MCU. Which MCU will be selected is from u6 fully automated.

I have U5 and I have this option too.

they must have changed the answer in the API for u5 also.

A bit snarky there Stefan. As you can see from the attached screenshots, I am the current release.

Hi,

The Cloud option is similar to the Auto option from before. The system will automatically choose the best MCU for you based on a number of weighting variables.

As the MCU will be handled automatically, you will be able to choose Cloud or Local MCU (for the upcoming local MCU as Stefan explained earlier).

PS: In Update 5 it is still handled automatically, but selecting an MCU manually just gives it a bit more weight in the automatic decision-making process. It does not necessarily mean you will end up on that MCU (ie. maybe its full, or down for maintenance, or too far than other available MCUs with more free resources)

What does the "Bitrate" option do?

It's what you would expect: it controls the maximum bitrate of the session and it is mainly used as a control to avoid having issues in case one of the participants does not have enough bandwidth.

You can of course change it on the fly too if you get a bandwidth warning during the meeting:
