Migration from paid to NFR/ NFR user limit.

Hi there,

We've recently hit the threshold to be granted a NFR license equivalent to the paid license we were using internally.

I want to migrate from our paid hosted system to the NFR hosted system, but haven't found a way to do so without setting up from scratch.

Trying to upload a backup on setup or after NFR setup/ linking to our cloud storage for access doesn't work due to the different license key/ FQDN. Older methods I've seen like adjusting the current key to an invalid one for a backup effectively without a key, and changing the xml of the backup to show the new license key/FQDN of the NFR instance don't work.

I also couldn't move the NFR license to the existing paid host after unlinking it due to a vague connection issues error.

Is this just working as intended and I need to set it up from scratch on the NFR instance or am I missing a way to migrate between these hosts?

Bonus question, I've seen somewhere that NFR licenses have a 20 user limit? Anyone got experience that confirms/ disputes this? 3CX Enterprise 16 SC if it matters.

You need to start from scratch. You cannot replace a commercial key with an NFR.

Also, there's no users limit on the NFR key. It's a dedicated system.

A colleague has just pointed out that the info they found ref 20 users on NFR actually suggested it was due to the NFR host, not licensing, does that make any difference to your answer?

Not sure what "NFR host" means...? There are hardware recommendations: https://www.3cx.com/docs/recommended-hardware-specifications-for-3cx/

We will be using the "primary NFR" which is hosted with 3CX, but are concerned that we'll be limited to 20 users.

I might just be getting the terminology wrong here and the NFR license and the NFR Host are interchangeable.

Huh. https://www.3cx.com/blog/docs/hosted-pbx-faq/ is a 5 year old blog. I guess 3CX will have to answer if that's still current. If it's a concern/limit you could just host it yourself.

Why not keeping your installed commercial key and don't use a NFR to be in production for your company ?

Aws2p the commercial key expires soon so we want to move over to the NFR key instead.
