Hello

I have an onprem installation with a license key1, installed on fqdn1

I'd like to move all configuration to license key2, on fqdn2

I'd like to change the fqdn because customer would like to change it.
And I'd like to change the license key because it's a totally different one.

What's the best way to do this?
Shall I first change the FQDN, then backup the config, then restore on the new server (so new license key) using the config file?

Hi @David_K,

You can take a backup of the Phone System without "License Key Information, FQDN & Conference", deploy the new installation using the new license key and selecting a new FQDN and use the backup taken in order to restore the configuration.

Please find our guide for backup and restore: https://www.3cx.com/docs/manual/pbx-backup-restore-failover/

Thanks @GeorgeP_3CX

So if I change the FQDN I suppose I'll have to reconfigure the phones or at least the SBC?

Hi @David_K

You will have to create a new SBC, therefore the IP phones they will need to be reconfigured with the new SBC.

Good afternoon, How would you complete this in a AWS hosted situation? Is there a way to upload the backup?

I have just paid for a new Pro on-prem license and am fairly new to 3CX. I installed with a custom FQDN and valid certificate, but could not get the SBC install to connect to the provisioning URL no matter what I tried. I gave up and decided to reinstall so I deleted the system from "My Systems" and now after reinstalling and entering the license key during the initial setup, it says "the license key you entered is incorrect". I can't add a new system under my account because the ONLY options it is showing are their Hosted options. I am beyond frustrated and can't even create a new post in the forums because I have no systems installed now. I didn't create a backup first because it was a brand-new install and I had nothing configured to back up. Sorry if I'm hijacking the thread, but is there any way to reinstall using my same key after I've deleted it from "My Systems"? I'm not getting replies from the compay that sold me the license and I'm not going to pay for support for something so basic. I have never been this frustrated with a company's licensing system in my life. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

You'll need to contact the CSR team. Also, get a better reseller/partner to actually get help with your license as they should be able to reassign it to you as it was a paid license.

Just for everybody to know, @Neosmart deleted his license key and then his account. Then created a new account and expected the license to be there magically. So yeah, nothing to do with the licensing system perse
