Hi all

When I last tried this I used the 3cx deployment tool to Digital ocean. All good, chose the same FQDN and restore the backup but it says that the FQDN is locked to a 3CX hosted instance (as expected)

What is the process to release/allow the FQDN to be used on another instance - do I just "stop" the hosted instance? Trying to aim for minimal downtime and don't want to do something destructive like deleting the old 3cx hosted instance until 100% sure it's all migrated OK.

Thanks

Your backup should contain the subscription and FQDN. You do not need to do anything else to migrate, just shut the other machine down when the new one is up.

You should not install and select FQDN, just restore the backup from the installation wizard itself.

Some downtime will be inevitable with the change of IP address and DNS TTL

Thanks for the reply. I've just tried to restore the backup but get to the FQDN bit and I get:

License key is hosted but change IP request is received from non-hosted VM

You indeed need to stop the hosted machine first which you can do from our portal. Just click on the License Key and under "Install Status" select "Stop" and wait till the status is set to "Stopped". Avoid refreshing the page while it loads, it usually takes a minute.
Once it shows stopped you should be able to deploy the new instance using your backup with the same key.
