I'm teaching a LAN course at a local community college and attempting to use the free 3CX phone system and the several of the free soft phones available on the web. I have a small Linksys 16 port workgroup switch used to make a Etherfast network.
Everything works for a single call but if a second call is attempted the call is rejected.
Is the problem the switch or a missing setting in the SIP server or can the free 3CX SIP server only handle one call at a time?

Hi and Welcome to the forum

Please try simple test.
Make a call to 999 (voice mail menu) from all three extensions simultaneously.
It is expected that all of them will get message "Please enter personal identification number...".

Management console has "Server Activity Log" page.
It shows flow of each call handled by PBX.
Could you please post it here?

Thanks

A second call to what? If you have extensions A, B, C & D. A calls B, is the problem C calling D? Is it a second call to A or B from C? You need to be a bit more specific.

you may need to provide more information. it sounds like you may not have voicemail turned on for the extension or it is setup to only accept one call at a time. it would be helpful to provide the softphone that you are trying to use as well

Sorry for the delay last week was spring break. Restarted everything on Tuesday and everything worked correctly (multiple calls OK). Could not find any difference from the setup 2 weeks ago. The only problem to correct is to set a static address for the system so the softphones can find the SIP server after power down.

You'll definately want a static IP assigned to the 3cx server.
