Good morning all,

I've searched around and seen previous posts similar to this - just hoping someone can come up with a clever solution...

We have an existing infrastructure of DECT handsets - a Gigaset N720 manager and eight base stations. I am deploying a mix of softphones (installed on laptops) and Yealink T48 over the next few weeks.

My "issue" is that when users select CTI on the softphone, they are offered an option to use the CTI feature available from their N720-registered handset. NOT ideal :(

I was hoping that maybe the 3cx softphone checks the availability of the CTI-enabled device before offering the selection so created a local firewall policy preventing the laptop from being able to establish a connection to the N720 - but this is not the case.

Is there anything I can do to prevent the 3cx server from CTI-enabling the N720 connections to get rid of this issue?

I realise I could raise an enhancement request but it's probably not such a common scenario that would get many votes. Please help... supposed to be demo'ing a prototype system in the next couple of weeks. :(

Hello @jonpennell

Please note that the 3CX client for windows does not check for CTI available devices before allowing the user to switch to CTI as it can also use Make Call which allows the client to control devices that are not CTI enabled.
The Web Client does check for CTI enabled devices and lists them so the user can pick from a list of supported devices however is not a stand alone sip phone.

You can set the client to always start to softphone mode but there is no way to limit the user from switching to CTI.

You have misunderstood. I don't want to PREVENT the user switching to CTI. The issue is that each user has a DECT handset and a deskphone. Only the deskphone supports CTI well.

What I was hoping was to prevent the softclient from offering the DECT handset as a CTI target.

Thanks for getting back to me though :)

Sorry if my reply was not clear. I will try to be more specific. There is no way to limit the 3CX client to use CTI for only CTI capable devices as it can also use Make Call.
The web client can do that as you can select the target device.

Thanks. I suspected as such
