Hello,

Just setting this up and running into some provisioning issues. I have a couple of offices with Polycom phones (VVX 3,4,5,600's and a few old Soundpoint 550's). I've seen that they are legacy products but they've worked fine on 3cx so far, the 550's are a little wonky, but we only use them in emergencies. They've provisioned and come right up in 2 locations (connected by VPN). My 3cx server is running under Hyper-V on a separate subnet in the office.

We thought we'd test fully supported phones so we ordered a few Snom D345 / D375s to test. I am working on a D345. I flashed it to the firmware on the 3cx page (8.9.3.88). Reset to factory. The phone comes up, grabs its IP. I have changed our DHCP provisioning link to the specified one: (http://serverIP:5000/provisioning/xxxxxxxxxxxx1/cfg{mac} ) but never connects to 3cx. I see that it has the provisioning URL in the phones logs. I see no attempt made to register on 3cx.

The Snom says press any key to login. It shows the registrar as my active directory domain (corp.companyname.com) and not my server ip.

The VVX phones seemed to provision without issue. Any ideas about this Snom? We are looking for a new phone to standardize on if the VVX's are not fully supported.

Thanks,
David

What happens if you enter the provisioning url directly into the phone via the phone web front end, instead of using dhcp. this way, you will find out if the issue is with dhcp.setup.

You have configured the phones within the 3CX management console, as pnp setup does not work over vpn's- setup the phones as 'Local Lan' as provisioning method

Can not remember if you have to untick 'Disallow use of extension outside the LAN' for vpn connections - may worth testing

I think you will need to change the provisioning link to https and port 5001 for SNOMs......

Also make sure that you have the phones provisioning method is set to local and the local provisioning link is selected.

Thank you for all the replies.

I had those things selected and still no go. I did go to the provisioning link and download the config just fine. I uploaded the config file manually to the phone through the web ui and it registered and seems provisioned. I can make changes after that and it reprovisions as it should. It's pulling the directory.

I did not see a way to edit the provisioning url in the web ui.

If i have to configure the phone manually the first time, i can live with that. We may order a Yealink and try one of those. I am assuming the Snom should be able to auto provision from scratch though, which would be nice.

Thanks again,
David

Please reset the phone and try this :
  1. Point your web browser to your phone’s IP address.
  2. Navigate within the device's web interface to “Advanced” ⇒ “Update” and enter the “Provisioning Link” into the “Setting URL”.
  3. Press “Apply” and reboot to provision your snom phone.

I came accross simliar setup with the same model where the phone was showing the local domain instead of the registrar , tricky part was finding the provising url at the phone's web interface, don't now why SNOM thought they should call it a "setting url" and place it under "update" tab..Hope this works for you.

it would not let me change the setting URL after an update. I changed policy settings and saved and rebooted, still it wouldnt let me update the field. I could change it after i manually uploaded the settings file and rebooted. I have a D375 to test now as well. I will give it all a try.

thanks

If the phone does not let you change the provisioning URL (greyed out) then that probably means the phones are bound to the Snom RPS server. If that is the case you can contact Snom to release the MAC address of the phone from the RPS server or wait 2 weeks for the MAC address to be released. After that period the phone will have to be reset for the option to clear.
