Today I finished the testing phase of a new board design and I must say it works great.

This new "interface" board (really simple to make) interfaces within most late model appliances (those that have a computer type control board) and notifies me when there are error control issues or when the dryer is done by dialing a predetermined extension on Elastix box (or by sending a fax) and passing the information. Like when I leave the frig door open because I'm old and forgetful....

So now when my clothes are dried, since my dryer is in the back of the house and I watch tv or play on computer in the front of the house, it not only displays "dryer cycle complete" on my big screen tv but now dials my extension and plays "hey fool your cloths are done". It just doesn't get any better than this. Now I don't forget (like most males do) that I have clothes in the dryer that needs to be removed.

I just love finding new uses for such a greeat software like Elastix. The good Lord has blessed me with great possibilities.

Well back to the drawing board for my next project. Putting a portable hand held sip phone in my truck.

hey they don't have a softphone for you smartphone, kind of redundant to make a phone another phone however it would work in your truck ;)

pmurphy,

The reason for using a portable sip phone in the truck is the ability to communicate with several techs at a job site and to allow techs to receive/make calls to/from the office or customers.

I already have it working. I have a hotspot cell unit, a Raspberry Pi with Pbx installed using wifi. WaLa, I can pull one vehicle up to job site, send five or ten techs into a building, they all have great communications and I don't have to pay the monthy bill for 5-10 cell phones. Inexpensive "two-way radio with phone interconnect" style communications and it's private.

It may sound a little off the wall, but it works and works great. By the way, it's just as fun to be able to say "I did it"....lol

I think you got something there.

We have some wireless sip phones fun stuff.

I can see where your solution could be handy. However everyone I know has an unlimited talk time cell, however I guess uncle sam could record the fact that I am taking a restroom break where your solution keeps him from finding you are in your favorite stall.

I wish I had time to have that much fun....

macdon,
If you look at the forum main page you will see a section called "Elastix" then under that you will see "Micro-Elastix", that's where you can find more info on uElastix and Raspberry PI.
