First of all, congratulations on this software. I am actually an Asterisk user, but my VOIP provider (Broadvoice) is very temperamental with registration and doesn't play nice with Asterisk. 3CX seems to work without a hitch. I am using version 3.0 Freeeware edition.

MY question is about auto attendant, I have set up auto attendant to pick up the line when called from the outside, but after 10 seconds or so, in mid-announcement, it hangs up. I have set the timeout to a high number, but this does not help.

Also, I am unsure how to change the outgoing voicemail message for any given extension through the voicemail center 999. Is this even possible?

I have a one man show, but I would like a greeting to be played after which a message is left by the caller. I think auto attendant is too much, but have not found any other way to use my .wav announcement with an regular extension voicemail.

Can anyone enlighten me, please? Thanks in advance.

Chuck :shock:

What you mean "in mid-announcement" ? What exactly IVR is playing to you ?

You can change "record your message..." greeting message for any extension from the special menu using key '8'. For example, if you have extension '100' with pin-number '100', you have to type: '999 100 100# 8'. Then you'll hear “Record your greeting message, then press pound” prompt and beep sound. Tell your message and press pound; then confirm it by pressing '0'. Now all voicemail saving dialogs for the extension '100' will start with this message.

Hi Alexander,

Thanks so much for your tips!

The announcement is the .wav file that I uploaded to the system (Apparently it doesn't work with .mp3, so I converted it)

Hi Chuck !

It's strange that your mp3-files ain't played. As far as I understand you hear the "Record your message, then press pound" prompt, but it's an mp3-file (record_your_message.mp3).
Media Server uses DirectX for playing of audio-files, so the problem can be in the installed mp3 DirectX filters (mp3 splitter for example). See the

for more information. Or the problem can be in your mp3-file, please check it has correct format.

Concerning changing system prompts; you can create custom set of prompts using 3CX Admin Console (System Prompts/Create Copy), then you can replace any wav or mp3 file (including 'record_your_message.mp3' prompt) using "Browse" buttons.

Hi Alexander,

Thanks for the ideas on the Direct Show object. I have downloaded the software and will check, althoughough right now I don't know what the offending item might be.

I tried this on a fresh install of Windows 2K with SP 4 and all the patches, I have the same problem!! Maybe it is the file I am using, I will check that and report back. This is what happens right before the call:

The WAN address is 24.xxx.xx.162:9002
Local address id 192.168.1.55
Broadvoice number is 2125551212

14:34:09.860 StratInOut::onHangUp Call from Ln:10000@Broadvoice to 100 has been terminated
14:33:53.145 CallLegImpl::onConnected Established media channel for Ln:10000@Broadvoice: remote=147.135.12.248:24726; local=24.xxx.xx.162:9002
14:33:53.095 CallConf::onIncoming Incoming call from Ln:10000@Broadvoice to sip:[email protected]
14:33:46.226 ClientRegs::onSuccess Registration of sip:[email protected] is successful
14:33:45.795 ExtLine::Register_ Send registration for "2125551212"<sip:[email protected]>
14:33:45.795 ExtLine::Register_ Use External IP for device line registration DN='10000' device='Broadvoice'

Any other light shed on this would be REALLY appreciated!!
Thanks!!

Chuck
