new yealink t48u unable to set up as stun

the phone firmware is

109.1.0.0.3.1.0

the 3cx version is 18.0 (Build 939)

i have the only accept trusted certs set to off

autoprovisioning hits the server url and says operation complete

we have ping turned off on the external interface, but the other people on the inside of the newtork hit the sbc abd work fine. this phone is obviously going outside the network.
when you do the register, no matter what setting you you try to adjust, it still returns that registration failed on the register account page.

any hints as to whatto look for to get stun to work??

The T48U can be a router phone so I would always set it up that way. Avoids port forwarding and the like. Then other phones can use it as their SBC, or it can be portable.

https://www.3cx.com/docs/phone-firmwares/ has the supported firmware as 108.86.0.76 ...?

please pardon my ignorance, i cannot see how to set up the phone through the webui as a router/phone. will you please elucidate me?

No worries. There are docs: https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/yealink-t4-series/#h.yhrfzzlqr7gx. It must be done from the web client Admin tab. (e.g. by a System Owner extension)

ok, i logged into admin extension, went to admin, and went to ip phone.but there is no button for configure phone when I click the down and select the phone. Or can the extension not understand that 1 phone is internal on the sbc and the other phone is outside connecting by stun? Or do I turn off the stun settings in the phone ui? or do i have to create an extension different for that user to use outside the network?

Router phones have to be the first one added, for some reason. Delete the other, add the router phone, and add the other back again.

If you had tried configuring the phone already I would factory reset it before adding it again. Also double check firmware since if that's incorrect, or at least not recent enough, that can blacklist the phone.

sorry, i neglected to respond back to let you know results. setting up with new extension worked to a point. I also had to change transport from udp to tcp. once all that was done, it lit up fine and worked perfectly. i set phone back to default and deleted the phone from the system just to repeat the process and test it. all is working now. thanks for the help!
