Sincere apologies if this is a duplicate thread, because I see that several other people have had similar issues but a) they don't seem to have been solved and b) I confess I can't understand how similar or dissimilar their issues are.

Our 15.5 PBX is making and receiving calls fine, but the Company Directory is inaccessible (phone screen just says Requesting ...' ), the 3CX Management Console is not accessible (browser can't reach http://localhost:5000/#/login) and attempts to start the Nginx server manually fail ('The 3CX PhoneSystem Nginx Server service on Local Computer started and then stopped').

I am assuming these symptoms are related.

The only change which could have occurred since all was well is an automatic Windows update (current version Windows 10 Home Version 1803 (OS Build 17134.165)).

Can anyone please point me in the right direction in simple terms?

Many thanks

For windows 10 it must be pro or enterprise to be supported for 3CX phone system.

You can check the windows event viewer it might give you insight on why nginix isn’t working but really you should upgrade the operating system to pro or likely you will continue to have trouble with your system.

As above home edition is not supported - you need to use a support operating system

Hello @jonathanc

If the Nginx service is down then you will experience the mentioned issues so to resolve them the service needs to start.
As mentioned the OS you are running the PBX on is not supported and i would recommend moving the PBX to a supported operating system. If the issue was caused by the windows update you could try reverting the update and see if that helps with the issue until you can move the PBX.

Thank you all for your united response! I'll either upgrade the 3CX server to Win 10 Pro or migrate the 3CX installation to another machine already running that OS.

I was fooled by the fact that 3CX had been working wonderfully on the Windows 10 Home which came pre-installed on its PC!

Thank you all once more.

Just an update: installing Win 10 Pro on the 3CX server did the trick, but not before I’d set the Nginx service to Automatic Delayed Start. Seems stable now, though, through several restarts. Thanks again for the advice.

Glad to see the issue has been resolved and thank you for updating the thread with your solution.
