Hello all. Will be setting up a hosted 3cx system for a business that wants to keep their existing Centurylink number. My plan is to get the system setup on-site with the sbc and test everything with a temporary number. Once it is working correctly, can I just forward the existing Centurylink number to my temporary number and leave the forwarding on until the porting is finished and take down the old analog system?

Then just remove the temp number and fix the call rules for the new number being ported in? Is there a cleaner way to do this to minimize downtime? Do you see any issues with using the call forwarding initially?

That's how we do this. I've seen ports take weeks so it seems the most reasonable way. Just add the temp number and the ported number to the SIP trunk so calls work after porting happens.

Ok...glad to know we are on the right path. Thanks for the reply
