One User with different Phones in different Offices

Hi There,

I understand that it is not possible to have two router phone for one user or use a router phone for Hotdesking.
Is there any other way to provision three single phones in three different locations for one user. No other Phones at these Location and I'm afraid it is not feasible to host an sbc on a Windows PC at the location.

Do I need to provision the phone on STUN, does this come with disadvantages?

That is unfortunate. Would it be problematic if I create a second user with the same Outgoing Phone Number an an Incoming Rule to Call both users (as a ring group / queue for example )?

Yes, sure, this is possible. Just the extension numbers for the same user will be different, obviously, so if this is not a problem then go ahead.

Will this be fixed? It is very important for the user to have a physical phone and not use webclients/apps. I find it strange that 3cx pbx software is not supporting mutiple phones. An extensions should allow mutiple router phones if you are doing away with stun.

I recently encountered a user with a similar issue. Their scenario was not about router phones though. The goal was to be able to have desk phone at several locations that would have the office's outbound caller ID number when making outbound calls from that location. Of course the CNAM is the same across the board. I just created three extensions. Same email address on all three. Same name on all three. The outbound caller ID phone number is different between the extensions. The person uses webclient, mobile app, and desk phones. This worked for them. I did not try it with router phones.

Regarding STUN, it was never a secure option and is vehemently discouraged in the office 3CX training sessions. My recollection from the V20 training is that STUN phones will not exist in V20.

If the PC is Windows Pro one option you have is to install the windows feature Hyper-V
then setup a 1vcpu and 1-2gb memory,

then you can install the linux version of the SBC into the Hyper-V on the machine,
(remember to set static IP or DHCP reserve in the router)

that way when the PC is on, the phone will work

Alternatively setup a site to site VPN between the sites, then you can use hotdesking or local provisioning
