If you are in a call with the windows client, it seems that the client will query the DNS servers every N seconds depending on the TTL of the DNS record (for example every 3600 seconds). While this is not a problem if the query is sucessful immediately, problems arise if the query takes longer then a short time or fails. During the query for the fqdn the audio of the remote party is suspended so he can hear you but you dont.
This is a bug or at least a problem which should be taken care to deliver the best possible user experience.
First of all, the dns query should be made non blocking. Continue the call using the currentyl known IP until you get an answer. The connection is still up and the client should be able to decide even without a valid DNS record if the connection is good since this is all done using the tunnel which uses TCP. A renegotiotiation based on the DNS query should only take place if the connection breaks or a new call is made.
