Operator Panel Question

On the operator panel there are three (3) listing showing the following:

area 1 --- ext
area 2 --- ext
area 3 --- ext

Could someone enlighten as to what these "areas" are for?

Also, is there a way to diaplay, on the operator panel of the "main" server, the extensions on remote (colocated) servers so as not to have to have 12 tabs opened on a Internet Browser? It would be nice to have one operator panel open instead of twelve or more.

I've not found any info on these two subjects.
