Hi

I'm in the process of setting up an outbound dialer, it pulls numbers out of an SQL database, and uses the Make Call function to make the call as attached, this works fine and the call is made and the automated message is played but I can't get the Outbound Caller ID to display. it just displays 'No Caller ID', I have the Outbound Caller ID set in the SIP Trunk settings and when making a call from any of the extensions it shows the caller ID, but doesn't on on the dialer.

Normally, on 3CX (at the moment) caller ID is taken from one of a few places. The trunks settings, the extension outbound number to send setting, and in some cases, from the device itself. How is the dialler connected through 3CX, as an extension?

You may have to resort to Wireshark to see the differences in Invites and where Caller ID is "located".

Thanks for the reply, the dialer is setup as a queue extension.

I will have a look at wireshark today.

I've got a wireshark capture of a call, how can I see what the outbound caller ID is that is being sent?

I have spoken to the SIP provider and they have said the Caller ID being passed to them is 'MakeCall', how can I change this?

Not familiar with that particular term. There are a number of caller Id options in the trunk outbound settings. Some provider take information from different fields. Make note of the initial settings before any changes. Some options can cause all outbound calls to fail.

Open it with Wireshark and and got to Telephony --> VoIP Calls. Here find the call you want to check, highlight it and press " Flow Sequence". At this point you should get a visual representation of the call flow.

Select the "INVITE" message in the flow, and the main window of wireshark should go to that packet. Expand all nodes, take a screenshot and paste it here.

Please blank our any sensitive information like numbers, IPs, etc, just leave the "MakeCall" visible so that we can see where it is.

One more thing that may be useful is a screenshot of the SIP Trunk settings --> Outbound Parameters tab, just to see where 3CX is getting all the information from...

Remember the call is being initiated by the "MakeCall" API function, rather than from an extension. Therefore, MakeCall is the expected result. Normally, setting the outbound caller ID for the SIP trunk will overwrite "MakeCall" much the way setting no caller ID on an extension will cause 3CX to use the default caller ID on the trunk. There is no way of changing this functionality that I am aware of.
